When she was a child, Cathy Ryan dreamed of becoming a superhero who rescued the helpless and conquered evil. Now she writes about ordinary people who conquer evil in their own lives. Along with writing, she enjoys gardening, and playing piano. She lives on a farm in Virginia with her husband and a cat. The cat supervises both writing and gardening and leaves the house during piano practice.
Cathy is a graduate of the 2005 Odyssey Writing Workshop and several other workshops where she honed her craft. Her short stories have appeared in the award-winning on-line magazine Beneath Ceaseless Skies, the on-line magazine Short Fiction Break, and the anthology Deep Waters, Vol. 2. She has three novels in revision: The Hiding Kind, Seed Corn and What He Did.
